Physiotherapy

Helping you move with confidence

Reducing pain and restoring function

Physiotherapists are movement and rehabilitation specialists who help people of all ages recover from injury, reduce pain and improve their physical wellbeing. Using a combination of hands-on treatment, tailored exercise, education and rehabilitation planning, we aim to restore natural movement, build strength and support a return to everyday activities, work or sport.

At Active Life Physiotherapy Centre, we focus on musculoskeletal conditions — from joint and soft tissue injuries to mobility and posture-related issues. Whether your symptoms are the result of a sudden injury, long-term strain or post-surgical recovery, our goal is simple: to help you feel better, move better and get back to the things that matter most to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions do physiotherapists treat?
We commonly help with neck and back pain, shoulder and elbow injuries, knee and hip pain, ankle and foot issues, sports injuries, muscle strains, tendon problems, arthritis-related discomfort, sciatica and work related disorders.
We use techniques that reduce inflammation and swelling, improve joint mobility, strengthen inhibited muscles, relax and stretch tight overactive muscles helping to correct abnormal movement patterns to ease discomfort and address the underlying causes of pain.

No — you can book directly with us. Some insurance providers may request a referral, but this is not always required.

On your initial visit you will be required to fill out some paperwork so please arrive 5-10 mins prior to your appointment if possible and remember your spectacles if you require them. Please allow up to 1 hour for completion of your initial assessment session. Please bring appropriate clothing to enable unencumbered examination (leggings/shorts or strap tops). We have a selection of shorts and strap tops if you forget. The Physiotherapist will spend some time talking to you about your problem area, then begin a physical assessment of the discussed problem followed by an explanation of findings, question answering and an estimated length of any course of treatment where possible. Depending on the level of irritability of your problem and time available, a short treatment session is usually administered. The physiotherapist will explain what they are going to do and will not carry out any techniques that you are not comfortable with.
The most convenient parking is St James’ swimming pool car park or the multi storey car park. You can park for 2 hours free on County Court Road near The Walks, and we are just a 5 minute walk across the park.
Those using medical insurance to cover physiotherapy costs should contact their insurer prior to booking an appointment to ensure their claim has been authorised. We will require your membership number, an authorisation code and the number of sessions authorised before treatment can begin. Be aware that you may have an excess on your policy that you will be required to settle at the end of your course of treatment. Any failure to attend or late cancellation(within 24 hours) may be charged as a session, at our discretion.
